Hills Joglo Villa in Semarang

  • Boutique antique villa of six traditional original (100-300 years old) Javanese Joglo homes, one joglo style house and one joglo style Unit. A total of 37 guests can be comfortably accommodated and catered to.
  • A coffee shop and gallery, currently with an exhibition of 22 works by Semarang artist, Akuan, is located in the reception center. A small fishing pool for guests is nearby.

  • The villa is in six hectares of paddy field and gullies at the foot of Mount Ungaran, just 30 minutes from the center of Semarang and 35 minutes from the Semarang International Airport. Airport taxi costs is currently Rp 200,000 pick up and drop. We arrange pick up and drop at cost.

  • Javanese, Chinese or western food is served, either in the Joglo houses, in the beautiful gardens or in a sophisticated small restaurant attached to a modern art gallery.
  • We can organize daily trips to Yogyakarta, Borobudur, Prambanan, Dieng Plateau and Solo or to the many sites of interest around Semarang.
  • The garden retains an interesting assemblage of animals and plants representative of the remnant wildlife of Java- which is mainly retained in such settings. This includes 39 bird, 33 butterfly, seven frog and seven lizard species. Many species of rare fruit tree have been planted. Our small coffee plantation nestles in the villa hill.
  • Local walks to the slopes of Mount Ungaran are through secondary forest and plantations of nutmeg, coffee, and cloves. These areas are also rich in wildlife.
  • The paddy surrounding the Joglo is a living farm that is share-cropped and produces three harvests a year.
  • The ecological cycle of a paddy field unfolds daily and is eternally fascinating. From the water buffalo that move in to squash in the rice stalks to the flares at night of the local villagers as they hunt for eels.

Traditional House for Rent
Six houses (Joglos), a joglo style villa and unit are available for rent. Although 400 meters above sea level, air conditioning is supplied in all houses. Fans are provided. All Joglos have clean modern toilets, hot water showers and TV. DVD is available on request. An additional bed supplied on request. A small business center is available. Each house has a barbeque.
